The BEST Breakfast in Memphis

Memphis is best known for its world famous barbecue. While the barbecue cannot be beat, there are other segments of the culinary world in which restaurateurs in Memphis excel.

Let’s talk about the most important meal of the day, breakfast.

Brother Juniper’s

Brother Juniper’s has not only the best breakfast in Memphis, it’s one of the best breakfast restaurants PERIOD. That’s not just my opinion, Brother Juniper’s has won many awards for breakfast and is nationally acclaimed (check their website for a list of awards). It’s so good that no visit to Memphis would be complete without dining there. If you live here and haven’t visited, go NOW.

The menu contains omelets, breakfast burritos, pancakes, waffles, cereals, and even tofu. The toppings and fillings are a very diverse mixture of ingredients that complement each other in very creative ways.

My favorite dishes are as follows:

The Garden and The Lamb Omelet

The Garden and The Lamb Omelet

The Garden and The Lamb Omelet is a 3 Egg Omelet filled with Gyro Meat (lamb and beef), Feta, Mozzarella, Spinach, Tomatoes & Green Onions. Served with your choice of grits or home fries & biscuit or toast. The omelets are made perfectly, the biscuits are light and moist, and the home fries are perfect. Definitely my favorite breakfast.

Florentine Open Faced Omelet

Bryant’s Breakfast

Unfortunately, everyday can’t be a day to indulge in a big breakfast.  Some days you may just want a breakfast like Mom makes or you may want to just grab something to go. This is where Bryant’s fits the bill perfectly.

Bryant’s Breakfast Special

One of my favorite meals at Bryant’s is the Breakfast Special – Scrambled Eggs with Homemade Biscuits, Grits, Country Gravy and Country Ham. The biscuits at Bryant’s are homemade as well and their Country Ham is the BEST.

Sausage Egg & Cheese Biscuit

When I’m on the go I can easily grab a Sausage Egg & Cheese Biscuit. Keep in mind that you won’t be the only person in line. Even though they are hurriedly preparing the food in the kitchen, the line can get rather long.

Hours of Operation:

Tuesday through Sunday 5:30 AM – 1:30 PM

There are many other great breakfast restaurants in the Memphis area but these are my top 2.
